I am currently trying to boost traffic to my UK home decor site: www.branchagehome.com - I have had 859 visitors to date since August and that is about a range of 6-40/day
I signed up to shopify early August and have had 2 sales from facebook in September. (maybe beginners luck as nothing since!)
I am trying to post daily to Twitter and also to facebook page:
Should I continue along this route, or maybe scale back and focus on one social media path until it is successful and then branch out to others? Alternatively, should I continue to try to add more social media channels and start an instagram/pinterest and add daily posts to these?
Finally, I am also doing a small amount of paid advertising. I am spending ~£1-2/day on each fb advert I create (maybe 2 going at once)/google adwords campaign. I think I am not using their potential very well yet as am still learning how to do these and not wanting to throw money away wastefully yet due to my ignorance with the methods.
However, the traffic these are generating is low (I think I am not sure what to expect from that level of spend tbh) and I am therefore not able to do a great amount of analysis on visitors to the site/products looked at etc etc. I am not sure where the balance lies in these for cost/traffic ratio that would allow me to focus on the data best. Any advice on this would be fantastic!

Facebook/Admarketing can be tricky if you don't niche down your customer segments. You can easily burn your pockets if the ads are not targeting your customer audience. If you already have customer emails (or) leads i would suggest to try out this app(there's a free credit on it) to get your customer interests https://apps.shopify.com/customer-insights. Once you know your customer interests then you can segment them appropriately and run Email or Ad campaigns. This can help you to target similar audience on FB too.
I recommend cutting Twitter advertising & Google AdWords for now. What I'd suggest you do is focus on Facebook ads for now to not only make sales, but also to collect valuable data on what your customers are like and to take advantage of Facebook's lookalike audience feature. This way, you'll be able to find common trends about your customers and apply them to targeting new customers in the future. You can then restart your AdWords campaigns once you know what your customers are like. Don't worry too much about Twitter. It's slowly becoming less and less relevant.
I also recommend checking out Shopify apps like Pollen (http://gopollen.com). Pollen uses information from your website like your customer list, social page engagement and visitor demographics to find similar people on the Internet who are most likely interested in your products, so you don't have to do any of the data mining yourself and saves you time.
