SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
My site was originally on another platform which wasnt as good as shopify so I have changed. On the old site I had adwords set up and in my first month had 17 sales and another 3 on etsy. So I realise my products and site are trustworthy. My problem is that my adwords spend was too high so I literally broke even.
So I am wondering how I can drive traffic without using paid ads?
Thanks for the help in advance 🙂
Hey Emma, lovely store!
AdWords is generally an expensive channel to acquire traffic. You could see the traffic that you get from there as an investment to create loyal customers that purchase again on your store without having to pay.
Facebook/Instagram ads tend to be much cheaper and with a good segmentation you will be able to see great results. Organic traffic is good too, you will need to create good and relevant content on your site though (time consuming)... At the end depends a lot from the product you have and to get it to the right person on the right time. a good marketing mix would be helpful. first get relevant traffic to your site (important kpi would be conversión and bounce rate) and then offer them a great experience and customer service to make loyal customers that purchase again saving you some ads spending.
it is always worthy to have a look at the analytics and the data from the Facebook pixel to track the performance of your campaigns and decide base on that data which channels perform better and spend more time and money on those. In webmefy.com we could help you with analytics and setting up a great marketing mix. Just let me know if you need some assistance there!
Hi thanks so much for your help. I have toyed with a few facebook ads however have not been very successful. I actually find adwords easier to set up! even in expert mode - maybe I need to research more. Currently I am adding new content to blogs, press releases and guest posts. But all of this takes time...... I will continue and see how I get on with it.
wow, first time i hear that! 😄 The problem with any ad is that you will need to reduce your target to improve your results and then track your results and decide if you want to expand or not. Segmentation is key for any ad, in Google ads with the keywords and audiences and in Facebook with the audiences and their interessts
Lol I think its just because I have played with google ads for years and got use to it where as fb ads are very new to me and Im not 100% sure how to use them.... I will give them a go however and come back and ask - will probably be in a few weeks since I have a lot on this month so was just trying to work on organic traffic sources.
I was wondering if you have any PR or guest post sites which offer a free link back (do follow) via anchor text. Ive found a few but they are proving hard to find and often try to charge. I have been watching the Deep End SEO videos which are great and was wondering about going with 'the hoth' if I really was going to pay....
Your store looks great in every way, great design, theme, colors, great story with lots of information, I was wondering where your coffee beans come from, and didn't get a straight answer, but it's not really important, I think that the free samples idea is smart for people to get a taste and prove you're proud of your product, but when I subscribed with two different emails I didn't get an email, that could be driving customers off your store...
Facebook ads can be challenging to master for eCommerce, but it's very visual and one of the best ways to get you great sales for your pound, I invite you to work with our new Digital Facebook expert app - Smart Ads, It will identify your buyers on Facebook, automatically uploads your products to Facebook every day, creates dynamic ads, learns who are the people who add to cart and purchase and target new people who are similar to them, helps you follow all the relevant statistics, all of that under your account and management, and much more.
I see that you haven't yet implemented a Pixel (tracking code) for Facebook, it's a key element for Facebook ads, and good to have regardless, and it's very simple to do with Shopify:
On your Store, Click "Online Store" in the left menu --> Preferences , scroll to Facebook Pixel section, enter your owned pixel ID (one of the two above), find them here: https://business.facebook.com/settings/pixels
will automatically add your pixel with events for Add to cart , Purchase , initiate checkout ...
All the best!
