SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hey John,
Go to Google Search Console:
Log in to Google Search Console.
Add your Shopify store's URL as a new property.
Choose Domain Verification:
Choose Domain verification method (which requires adding a TXT record).
Google will provide you with a TXT record that you need to add to your domain's DNS settings. Copy the entire TXT record.
Access Shopify Domain Settings:
In Shopify, go to Online Store > Domains from your Shopify admin panel.
Click on the domain you're using (if you're using a third-party domain like GoDaddy, follow the instructions for your domain provider).
Edit DNS Settings:
Scroll down to the DNS settings section and click on Manage.
Click on Add custom record, then select TXT from the dropdown.
Add the TXT Record:
In the Name field, leave it blank or put "@" depending on what Shopify or your domain provider suggests.
In the TXT Value field, paste the TXT record you copied from Google Search Console.
Set the TTL (time-to-live) to the default or leave it as is.
Save:
Save the DNS changes.
Verify in Google Search Console:
Go back to Google Search Console and click on Verify.
It may take a few minutes to an hour for Google to verify the domain.
Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Hi @john260
To verify your website with Google Search Console using a TXT file, you’ll need to add a TXT record to your domain’s DNS settings, not an actual file. Here’s how you can do it step-by-step:
Once verified, you’ll be able to use Google Search Console to monitor your site’s performance in search results.
Let me know if you have any questions on this process!
Best regards,
Daisy
