Hey, @new-haven.

Thanks for your message, I would be happy to offer you some further ideas into this. Thank you for providing a link to your shop, I really enjoyed checking it out. You have a really cool design here with some awesome-looking products. One thing I was a bit confused by was this video, it seems to be for your "Naruto" product, but it is below the product. I would also not recommend having the video autoplay:

Videos that autoplay can be bad for many reasons, such as:

  • Visually impaired users that use screen readers can't hear the screen or find how to stop the video.
  • Some people browse the internet while watching TV or are on the phone, or while completing other tasks that have sounds. Autoplay video interrupts the user's task, which will most likely lead to page abandonment.
  • Many users will also automatically close a browser tab that has sound by default, which means that an autoplay video will definitely lose merchant sales and hurt their overall conversion.

You can read more information in this article from our theme partners, Out Of The Sandbox.

In regards to traffic but no sales, this is quite common for webshops and does not always only boil down to store design and features, but it certainly can be a big factor. We have a fantastic article that I would recommend going through here, for more information. It goes through important questions you should ask about your shop, like:

  1. Is your main navigation easy to use?
  2. Does your visual brand look professional?
  3. Does your homepage have a clear call to action?
  4. Does your website copy speak to your target audience?
  5. Does your website look just as good on your mobile phone?
  6. Does your business seem trustworthy?
  7. Are shoppers adding products to their cart?
  8. Are shoppers abandoning their cart?
  9. Is price or payment options stopping them from checking out?

Are you doing any specific marketing or promotions for your store to bring your traffic in? If so, I would love to hear more about what techniques you have been implementing. If you have not yet done so, I would also recommend checking out our Marketing and Promotion guide for some more ideas. It walks through important concepts like:

- Developing a Marketing Plan

-
 Improving SEO optimization.

I hope some of these ideas help you out moving forward, please feel free to reach back out here with any further context or questions, we are always happy to help out!

the thought process of the video is to show customers what the product looks like in action, would it be better to change the featured product instead?

Hi, @new-haven.

Thanks for your message, it's good to hear back from you. Just to clarify, the video is a great idea to showcase your product. My reason for pointing it out was that it was placed below the product and that it auto-plays which is not always recommended as per my previous post. I don't think it would be necessary to have to change your featured product, I would just recommend adding the video to the product section itself and looking into changing that auto-play feature.
