SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi guys,
My name is Mike Anderson. I'm a brand asistance @ DRT
I started a Shopify website as a side project 1 month ago. I am really new to Shopify and digital marketing also. I just want to ask what MARKETING apps, you think, are necessary for all Shopify store?
All opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help
Mike Anderson
Hi,
As you ask about digital marketing also, I would like to share some of my opinions. For me, a digital marketer, there are 3 things that I really care about:
I have to work with landing pages (creating, pulling traffic, testing & tracking) for every single campaign. That why I choose PageFly - Page Builder as a must-have app for a digital marketer like me. The reason is that:
Hope this really helps 😉
There is cool analytics app Gaze. It spy which products customers watch before place order. It’s good for offer to customers to buy something viewed with discount.
Ad/Email marketing can be tricky if you don't niche down your customer segments. You can easily burn your pockets if the ads are not targeting your customer audience. If you already have customer emails (or) leads i would suggest to try out this app(there's a free credit on it) to get your customer interests https://apps.shopify.com/customer-insights. Once you know your customer interests then you can segment them appropriately on Ad/Email campaigns or send them correct set of emails. This can help you to target similar audience too.
Hi,
Here is a must have marketing app for Shopify stores Orangetwig
It automates your social media marketing for you i.e Designs your social media posts and posts them across all the social media channels for you. Thus, your brand stays kicking and alive, and visible to your fans and followers without any effort from you.
Also, it's CHEAP! Use at only $10/month, after a FREE trial. Imagine how much you'd spend on a freelance designer or social media specialist for the same work to get done.
How OrangeTwig helps:
First off, it covers all social media channels - Twitter, Fb, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr.
Next, it lets you set a posting schedule, like 2 posts daily across all channels for a month.
What's unique is - It places your products in designs you choose to make your social media posts eye-catching.
Messaging - You can add CTAs like "Buy Now" and "Shop Till You Drop" to your social media posts to drive conversions.
It helps you create occasion based posts, like for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day etc
It helps you schedule and push sales, and Daily Deals like 5% Off on a different product daily. Shopify itself does not allow you to do this.
If you do not want to offer sales, it helps you make and schedule engagement posts like "Tag a Friend Who'll Rock This Dress <insert dress image>", and "Quote of the Day".
Make posts like this for your store :

Hey Mike,
Try the app from our team called PageFly page builder app. It has been approved by last week and we got the first 5 stars review from the Shopify merchant. If you're looking for the stable app that allows you to build landing pages for the promotion campaigns of your clients, just take a look at PageFly.
This product perfectly matches the Shopify agency or Shopify experts like you.
I think it depends on your business and the product / service. In my case it's Adroll Shopify app to re-target customers back to the store. It'd save the cost for acquiring a new customer.
Hi Mike,
If you're looking for a way to drive quality traffic to your store for free, check out the free Ads Exchange app - https://apps.shopify.com/ads

I'd say Pollen (https://apps.shopify.com/poln) is definitely a must have for Shopify stores. It allows you to setup prospecting and retargeting ads for Facebook (+FB networks) pretty quickly and makes advertising simple and easy.
Nathan, I'd love to have you beta test our forthcoming retargeting feature. Some limited tests have shown it outperform AdRoll, but I'd love an opinion from another AdRoll customer. Please let me know if you would be interested.

Email marketing is a must have. MailChimp is an integral part of our mix. Their Shopify integration is very good - we switched to MailChimp after almost 10 years with Constant Contact and have never looked back.
Hi Mike (original poster) --
For B2C products, especially fashion/design/brand-heavy ones, my ecommerce friends have relied most on SEO, social marketing, and retargeting.
SEO
The company I know that did the best at growing their SEO results quickly wrote their own content, taking content from the brands they resell and rewriting it to use their voice, and be a bit more direct. They, amazingly, quickly grew to being top 5 in results for some popular brands they sell. Most of their competition simply used content from the manufacturer, making their content not unique, so it performs poorly for SEO.
The key here is that the brands are ones people search for.
Social Marketing
Facebook is what my B2C friends point to. They get good exposure on Instagram, but ROI comes from Facebook. Any app that can help you target Facebook Ads, and run several variations to see what performs best, should help.
Retargeting
I've been fascinated by Shoelace, but haven't tried it yet. Just looks nice. AdRoll, I've heard good things a out. My company's app, Antenna (https://apps.shopify.com/antenna), is about to release our marketing toolkit: animated videos and retargeting. Would love for you to try it out once we've released it.

Anh Nguyen - How do you attract traffic to your landing pages without advertisement?
Have you thought about the following:
1. Consolidating your inbound marketing messages. For example, if you run a Facebook ad, an Instagram ad, or email marketing campaign, it's important for you to follow up with customers who write in with questions, concerns, or comments in a manageable way. That means using a single portal to reply to everything so nothing gets lost in the shuffle.
If you're interested in an app that can help you with this, look at Re:amaze.
2. Have a way to reach out to shoppers on your storefront when they come from a specific marketing campaign. This is called proactive engagement and many stores use this process to convert customers almost immediately. On the flip side, proactive engagement can also prevent shopping cart abandonment as well as be an active part of your marketing engine for inbound leads. Re:amaze also offers this if you're interested.
I'm not a big fan on automation, even if it appears to save time! Giving personalised service to customers is important so any apps I have are to do with the admin.
I have "Improved Contact Form"... I use it to advertise promotions with banners that pop up on every visit (annoyingly but its along the bottom, so hopefully not annoying!). For example, this week its all about giving treasures and making gifts for Christmas 😄
"Plug in SEO" is a definite must have app for every store - it checks the code over regularly and sends me a report every 2 weeks. They're fantastic. If a problem appears, it tells you straight away and then checks in with you to see if you need help, and once fixed, they make sure you're ok 😄 Wonderful team.
"Quick View by Secomapp" is useful too... they're the ones to give customers a large pic to see before even going to the product page. It doesn't do much really, but looks great!
I use "eBay LINK" to connect my stores which means I only need to really look after 1 shop inventory, not 2. The guys who work there are the best and if anything goes wrong, they're onto it super fast 🙂
I also use "MailChimp for Shopify" ... it just gets on with its job of keeping my list in MC updated with happy customers who love to read my enews.
When starting out a shop, you've got to prioritise your budget so I'm very grateful to have access to free apps 🙂 I hope this helps!
You can "see" it all in action here - www.shop.artbyjenny.com.au 😄 Have a happy day!
Awesome shameless self promotion of your own app Karan! Someone has to sell your app right?
This is also one of our apps with a great success for keeping track of your websites SEO, as well as giving you a chance to spy on your competitors and track your rankings on Google. I do personally think its a type of must have tool for any store who is doing SEO whether it is this or any other.

If you don't want to use this app, as I stated you should find a similar tool or service to keep track of your website and improve accordingly.
Hi Elad Shochot,
I'm answering your question:
Anh Nguyen - How do you attract traffic to your landing pages without advertisement?
There are many ways you can drive your traffic for free (or at lease: low cost). But I'm sure that it'll take time
If you think about Advertising, choose the platform that does not have many advertisers. Facebook has thousands of advertisers, that's why the Facebook ad is expensive. I saw one of my Shopify friend who is very successful with Instagram ads and Snapchat ads
Hope it helps 😉
Great app, Anh Nguyen

I really love the Analytics function, really easy setup in comparison to Google Analytics and the page editor is also easy to use. Other apps are great, too. Thanks a lot you guys, Cemal Cebi, Art by Jenny, Reamaze!
p
a must have that every store need to have is something to push people to complete the order, alot of people doesn't have some mechanism in place so their stats look like view product 1k, add to cart 400
reach checkout 200 purchase 30, sound this familiar? basicly alot of people leaving the website the most crushial time (when it's time to pay), something stop them maybe price or shipping, of course there are some apps that give coupons but most of them suck because 1 they give the coupon to early, 2 some apps require to change the link which is bad if you do advertising (essentially you need to change the adset link) now there is a killer app that convert more people on the spot you can find more at https://supersalesbooster.com
Most shopify apps have fake reviews from friends of the programmer or the programmer themselves. Many reviews are from people who's websites are not even open or active. Click on the review posters name and you will see. Anything short of a 30 day trial is a waste. You need a few weeks to really see the app working to see if it's worth buying into. 7 day free trials are not even worth trying. Might take you a few days to get it working and even longer to see if it really works as the programmer promised.
No marketing app can promise you conversions. It's all false hope.
Hi Elad Shochot,
Anh Nguyen - How do you attract traffic to your landing pages without advertisement?
I think the most natural way is the organic from Google. Thanks to Shopify because it has the essential SEO onsite optimization. The SEO starts from building the releval and useful content for your users. Only after that take care about driving the taffic and building the trust via backlinks. If you're interested in Shopify SEO good points just have a look at this article.
Cheers,
Tony
Hi Mister Max, I totally agree!
No marketing app can promise you conversions. It's all false hope.
eCommerce in general or Shopify conversion rate is affected by many factors. Only tracking and testing to find out. Optimize conversion rate is a painful process. I believe that marketing apps make it less painful!
Here are a few of my all time favorite marketing apps:
I think there are a lot of useful apps, as many are mentioned here.
A more refined question would probalby be...great apps for what purpose?
When it comes to marketing, for example, one that I've found extremely useful is Soundest. It's an email marketing platform that really has a lot of features. For example, I had a separate app before for popups, then for the spin-the-wheel and then I used Shopify cart recovery emails. But now I just use Soundest for all that. You should really check 'em out. Muuuuuch easier than mailchimp, and not as convoluted and expensive like Klaviyo. It's apparently made for ecommerce, so that explains why I guess. It's here if you wanna check 'em out: https://apps.shopify.com/soundest
i looked for this app & it isnt there
