What are some black hat SEO practices to avoid?

Some of the Black Hat SEO Practices that I found out about are mentioned below:

  1. The use of Misleading Redirects
  2. Cloaking: Its a technique to fool the search engine and take somewhere else rather than their perceived destination.
  3. Link Exchanges should get avoided. It refers to the practice of creating a vast network by agreeing to linking one’s site and getting a similar link in return.
  4. Spam Commenting: It is what it sounds. It happens when people put unnecessary links in comments, which is irrelevant as it does not yield any results.

You should avoid all black hat techniques because Google is smart enough to
determine that you are paying for the links and it is not like people did
it in 2010.

Google have dedicated AI teams in their office to stop the blackhat.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

You've missed a big one on your list though: PBN's or Private Blog Networks.

I don't think it's as simple as saying "don't do it". This is one area of SEO where it comes down to personal comfort level, risk tolerance, commercial sensitivity and technical skill/ability avoid negative repercussions.

I know a guy who's paid off multiple mortgages through black-hat SEO. On the other hand I know of entire SEO agencies that have been destroyed through a combination of black-hat SEO an unannounced Google update, and just plain bad luck.

I've had good success without doing any black-hat SEO it so far in my career and personal projects. But to each their own 🙂

Just create unique valuable content like blogs, youtube channels, and link back to your store. This is the best SEO strategy but very few merchants are willing to work on it.

Add this also, here is some my info:

Black hat SEO refers to a series of practices that improve the ranking of websites or pages in search engines by violating the terms of service of search engines. The term "black hat" originated in Western movies to distinguish between "bad guys" and "good guys" wearing white hats (please refer to White Hat SEO).

Google is smart enough to penalize most of the Black Hat Techniques, including:

  • Direct link exchange: the act of linking one’s site and getting a similar link in return leaves footprints (you can avoid being penalized by using indirect method such as A -> B -> C -> D -> A)
  • Private blog networks: it's easy to identify which site is "real" or "fake" via traffic & footprints, not to mention most PBN has dummy sites with reroll content and cramming text links.
  • Spam comment: this method leaves footprints everywhere and actually has no effect on SEO since links in comment sections are mostly tagged with "no-follow".
  • Link stuffing: the fact that your pages are cramming with poor-quality external links everywhere is already valid evidence of trying to influence Google rankings.

Therefore, I suggest that you should follow Google guidelines & use White Hat Techniques such as email marketing, brand recognition, social signal, broken link & mentions strategy, etc. for your SEO plan.
