SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi, Lionsjewel team!
Morgan here from the Social Media team at Shopify.
Thanks for reaching out. I'd be happy to chat a bit about Facebook ads and how to get started with limited funds. However, when reviewing your site I definitely think there's a few things to focus on before spending money on ads. This will ensure that when you do start with paid ads the funds will stretch farther and your site will be completely ready to go, looking the best it can.
To get started, there's a few sections in your store that aren't completely finished yet. I recommend taking a few minutes to comb through your shop to look for these things. A few I found were:
1. Your footer looks to have some stock information still showing. You can edit this in your theme editor under Themes> Customize theme> Sections> Footer:
2. I recommend adding a logo to your store. A lot of/ almost all successful businesses will have a memorable symbol or image that can be recognized when seen either on a storefront or on your ads. Having a logo will add to the uniqueness of your store and will definitely help with your brand recognition. Here's a free tool to take advantage of, if you are interested in creating a custom logo for your shop.
3. Not everything has to be on sale for it to sell. You want to build value in your products and having everything discounted might limit the perceived value of your items. Here's a really great article on pricing your products strategically, and not necessarily just the cheapest they can be.
4. Lastly, I would edit your product descriptions. Although it is great to have the product details available from Oberlo, you want to be sure you are taking the opportunity to really sell your products to your customer in your description. This is your chance to convince your customers why they should buy from you. Treating the description as your sales pitch will ultimately lead to more sales, rather than just including the product materials and dimensions that automatically imports with your items.
Have fun with it, and really flex some brand building muscles when you write your descriptions. Here's some examples of really well written descriptions to gain some inspiration from.
Now, in terms of Facebook ads- Once your store is ready to go, you want to start brainstorming the demographic your products resonate with the most. With a smaller budget you need to ensure you're paying for ads to be seen by the right people, not the most people.
You may also want to run two small campaigns to compare results so you don't put all your eggs in one basket. Once you find a demographic and ad funnel that works, you can put a bit more capital into it. This is called A/B testing.
With Facebook ads you need to recognize that they do take quite a bit of time/push at the beginning to be effective, and over time require less capital as you narrow in and define your target audience. If you are looking to make your first few sales without a huge investment I might recommend some other methods first.
Finding customers organically will help build your customer profile. This is important because once your customer profile has enough data to go by, you can create paid advertisements with a lookalike audience. This is a recreation of the demographic that has already purchased from your store to attract similar customers without the overhead of a large campaign and retargeting strategy. However, it can sometimes be hard to get those first few sales without ads. If you're interested in some free "sweat equity" ways to make your first sales I recommend giving this blog post a read.
I know this may be a lot of information to mull over at once so I recommend diving into this in chunks! Feel free to reply here and ask any questions as you go through each of these suggestions. I hope you make those first sales and can start off strong!
For anyone else reading through this thread, was there anything I missed here? Have you created any successful ad campaigns in the infancy stages of your business? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Cheers,

Hi there LionsJewels thanks for sharing your store! 🙂
I don't know why you are copying Rory Ganon's store but you will not succeed with this as this niche is saturated. I hope this helps! 🙂

I agree with Morgan - do those things first before advertising.
Next - Ads don't work like this - making 2 sales in $35 is almost impossible to guarantee. It's doable but that's not the correct way to think about ads at all.
Advertising is a long term investment that requires you plan a budget for experimentation, planning the top of the funnel with cold traffic, measuring conversion and engagement rates and finally closing it with retargeting. This takes time to get right and then optimize.
In your case, I would stick to Morgan's advice and come back to ads once you have more budget and a better understanding of your buyer persona.
Hi, again.
Just to clarify a bit on what Karan mentioned, it isn't impossible to spend $35 and make two sales on your first campaign, but unlikely. Generally that isn't how advertising online works. When you start a marketing campaign it acts like a funnel. Initially that $35 will go towards gaining traffic to your store, and then your budget/focus shifts to having to retarget those visitors and follow them through the sales funnel to convert. Sometimes this can take a few campaigns or different advertising methods to convert your first customers. As time goes on the cost to acquire/ad cost per sale will become less and less as you narrow your funnel/strategy.
Although some people see sales right after starting ads, this is usually an anomaly as your initial campaign is typically testing the market and seeing what works and what doesn't work. Don't let this discourage you from starting a campaign though, all businesses that are very successful through Facebook ads go through these steps at the beginning to find their targeted customer base.
I recommend reading through the guide I mentioned earlier to make the most of your initial advertising funds before improving and editing your campaign as it goes on. Here's the link again if you missed it.

Thanks for the clarification @Morgan
An analogy to further illustrate this point is comparing ads to any sport like basketball. It isn't impossible to make 5 out of 5 shots but it takes a lot of learning, coaching and practice to get good at it. Even then, it's easy to miss a shot.
Does that make sense? My answer wasn't specific to your store at all. It was a general answer. As Morgan said, start with reading, then some trial and error and aim to improve as you go along.
Hope this helps.
No problem, @Lionsjewel1!
That's definitely along the lines of it! Not necessarily focusing on just one method but I think using all the free ways to gain traction and traffic to your site is the best way to start. From there use that data to create more meaningful and powerful paid ads! You can get creative with how you want to gain traction initially without paying, but influencer marketing is definitely my favourite.
Let us know what you end up getting up to, and how it works out for you.
Also, great analogy @Karan_Jassar !
