I have a simple SEO question regarding product page URLs.
If I have an electric skateboard product called Exway Atlas Pro, which of the following URLs is better for SEO:
1. /exway-atlas-pro
2. /exway-atlas-pro-electric-skateboard

@guyv I think it should be "exway-atlas-pro-electric-skateboard", as clear as possible for easier access to the product for buyers.

These are hottakes and generally if you have a lot of products like this should probably talk to a dedicated SEO expert to build a report.
It is common that overtime you will be changing these urls anyway based on analytics and SEO factors.
Use the latter and the former, it's not just about search crawling bots, but about people being able to tell what's at the destination url. And knowing,and seeing the page title in SERPs or in browser tabs in cases of ambiguity; i.e. situations like /exway-atlas-pro-electric-skateboard vs /exway-atlas-pro-gas-skateboard.
Use the latter /exway-atlas-pro-electric-skateboard as the canonical.
Use the former /exway-atlas-pro setup as a redirect that's specifically only used in human readable marketing such as images or video.
This behavior should documented in case it's decided to use the short url as the canonical and the redirect needs to be deleted.
