SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
For some reason my meta tags are adding a dash and the name of my business after each title. So for example, if on shopify i type in a meta title, i go online and the meta title is then followed by a - (my business name) which is very redundant and is making my headers long. I've attached a screenshot showing what my meta tags look like. you'll see at the end of each it says "-WallysPlants" which i do not want there.
Is there something in my code that is telling it to add my business name to the end of each meta tag? I have the pipeline theme. Please help.
Also, please do NOT email or contact my business offering services. I delete unsolicited business offer emails. Please do not reach out to my business social media doing the same.
Thank you!
Hello @wallysplants,
Good day! Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $5Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.
It's possible that your theme is set up to automatically add your business name to the end of each meta title. To remove it, you can try modifying the code in your theme.
Here are the steps you can take:
1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
2. Click on the Actions dropdown menu and select Edit Code.
3. In the left-hand sidebar, click on the theme.liquid file to open it.
4. Look for the line of code that includes "{{ page_title }}". This is where the meta title is generated.
5. To remove the business name from the end of the meta title, you can delete "- {{ shop.name }}" from the end of that line of code.
6. Save your changes and check your website to see if the business name has been removed from your meta titles.
Keep in mind that modifying your theme code can be risky and may cause unintended consequences. It's a good idea to create a backup of your theme before making any changes.
If the shop name is not coming from the theme, there could be other possibilities as to why your business name is being added to the end of each meta title. Here are a few other things to check:
1. Check if you have any meta fields or SEO apps installed that could be modifying your meta titles. Some apps or meta fields may automatically add your business name to the end of each title. Try disabling any SEO apps or meta fields to see if this resolves the issue.
2. Check if your site has any additional code in the head section of your theme.liquid file or other templates that could be adding your business name to the end of your meta titles. You can search for your business name in your theme files to see if it appears in any unexpected places.
3. Check if the meta title is being generated dynamically based on the product or collection being viewed. In some cases, the meta title may be automatically generated based on the name of the product or collection, and your business name may be included in this process. You can try modifying the code that generates the meta title to exclude your business name.
If you've checked these possibilities and still can't find the source of the issue, it may be worth reaching out to Shopify Support or a Shopify Expert for assistance.

Yes, there is something in the code that adds it to the end of each meta tag! you've to ask your developer to remove it.
