Why aren't my POS email subscribers importing into my email list?

When customers check out at my brick and mortar location, I give them the option to receive an emailed or texted receipt. When they choose email, I ask if they would also like to sign up for our email list. I then select the button to allow them to do so if they consent to receive email marketing. However, several times I have done this only to login to my Shopify dashboard and show that the customer is NOT subscribed to receive email marketing and I have to re-add them manually. I have disabled the double opt-in feature but this still keeps happening. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I ended up chatting with support at the issue was that I had the double-opt-in feature turned OFF. (I did this purposely, because I wanted subscribers to just be able to subscribe when they say so, and not have to agree twice that they'd like to receive marketing communications). Once I turned it back on, the issue has seemed to resolved itself, so long as my customers choose to again click "subscribe" when they receive the opt-in email.
