SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi,
I launched my furniture store online and havent been able to generate sales from the store.
I have found social media marketing has led to very brief interactions with my store.
Hoping to get some feedback on things I could change/adapt in the store or any ideas on how to generate sales or better traffic.
Website : www.abodedecor.co.uk
Thanks!
You've mentioned that interactions are brief, meaning your social media marketing is getting people to the store?
One of the first things I'd look at improving is your landing page. I go to your homepage for example, and all I see are some Best Selling products, but I don't really know what you are about yet. What kind of furniture do you sell? Who do you cater to? What promos are going on right now? What are the unique selling propositions of your company? When someone first visits your site you have about 2 seconds to captivate their interest.
Also, when I visit a collection page it looks disorganized. You have a collection for Living Room, for example, and when we land on that page we see a lamp next to a table, next to a chair, etc., with no way to filter by product type. If I want to only look at lamps, I now have to go through the entire page of products, which takes too long / too difficult, so instead I'm just going to exit the site.
Depending on the size of your catalog, I'd consider creating sub-collections and nesting them within the broader categories on your top level menu. This will make it much easier for visitors to find and browse what they're looking for.
Finally, looking at your product pages, there isn't enough there to build trust in the eyes of your potential customer. Shipping and return info, stock info, delivery estimate, payment options, and further specs / details are important here. And this info should ideally be easily viewable above the Add to Cart button (basically you're handling objections in a logical sequence while leading them to the checkout).
Thank you for your advice, really appreciate it!
I’ll take a look at the pages you mentioned.
@Abodedecorltd that's common with social media marketing, it's not the best channel to advertise for ecommerce, unless you have products that are unique, shareable, have viral potential, innovative, etc.
For your product category, I would start with Google Ads / Google Shopping. If you don't want to hire someone, Google how to setup Google Shopping in Shopify, that's a great start. Then experiment with a couple campaigns, you can reach out to Google Ads support to get a free consultation to help setup campaigns.
Expect to spend at least $10/day for a month to get some data (and likely some sales :D), then use that data to hone in your ads, target by demographic, add keywords and negative keywords, etc.
Couple things that will help your website conversions:
- Create an About page and put it in the top of the menu. Include your mission, about your brand, why you're different, etc.
- I would rephrase the email call to action, "With new stock arriving all the time, leave your email to be updated with new collections". It's grammatically incorrect, but also doesn't really give much incentive. Experiment with it, here are some examples:
"Subscribe to our email list to get 10% off your first order"
"We get cool new furniture all the time, subscribe to be the first to know when new stuff comes in"
"Subscribe to our email list to get 10% off your first order + be the first to hear about deals and cool new stuff"
Thank you so much for your advice, I’ll take a closer look at Google & Google Shopping ads.
I appreciate the tips on how to structure the call to action too.
You're welcome. If you're new to marketing on Shopify, some other tactics I like that I've used successfully multiple times:
- Start an affiliate marketing program and build an army of affiliates, get links on blogs / youtube, etc.
- Find pay-per-conversion marketing tools, free traffic basically until you make sales, then you set the conversion % usually
- Experiment with various automated email flows (send email to customers that bought a product from category A, advertising a discount for products from category B, matching products, etc... also intro emails with a discount are great... also abandoned cart with 2 emails, the first quickly after asking if they need help, the 2nd one a day later offering a discount code)
Those are 3 of the tactics I share in this guide: 7 Shopify Automation Tips to Level Up Your Store.
Good luck on getting traffic / sales. As long as you have a quality product, it's only a matter of time, it usually it just takes enough experimentation to find out which channels convert and generate positive ROI, then invest in those channels while continuing to allocate budget for experimenting on more channels.
Congrats on launching your store! To boost sales, try improving your SEO, engaging more on social media with promotions or giveaways, and adding customer reviews for trust. Email marketing and targeted ads can also help drive traffic. Keep experimenting to see what works best! Good luck!
