Workarounds if using Mailchimp?

I read that Mailchimp no longer supports integration with Shopify.  I would like to avoid shifting at this time to another email service.  Has anyone used workarounds such as creating a link to their sign up form in Mailchimp?

So far it appears on the footer your ability to link is only to something on the site like a blog post, a page, etc.  vs an external URL or email.

Welcome ideas, thanks!

I think you have a few options.

1. I tested with a free theme, and in the footer, if I edit the menu, I am able to add links. I entered the title "Test", then pasted a URL. At first it didn't work, but then I tried again, and clicked the URL in the popup and it saved it. (I did notice there's no option to open the link in a new window, though).

2. Your theme might also support adding HTML (usually called Custom Content or similar) items to your footer. If not, you can still do it, but it takes quite a bit of work to get it working.

3. MailChimp probably has HTML snippets you can add to different parts of your pages. These snippets put the signup form on your page.

Thanks Andrew.  I'll try again with the URL piece as you mention, only using the "Simple" theme my only options appear to be blog posts, blog, collection, pages, etc but not URL.  Then will look to the other steps you suggest.  Fingers crossed I find a solution!

Here's a bit more detail, in case it helps 🙂

Is this what you see when you're adding footer links?

If so, try typing in the link, like this:

Then, click the highlighted link, and it should look something like this:

If so, it should work.

Again, the biggest problem I saw was that there was no "Open in new window" option.

I would say it's not the best option, but it's a good start.

You can use a third party app to integrate Shopify and Mailchimp together.

zzBots can be used to set up a sync from Shopify to Mailchimp, so every time a new customer is added, a new subscriber is added to Mailchimp.

You can install this sync here: https://www.zzbots.com/store/TsrMEGuooN66kBGtX
