Covers all questions related to inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
Do not want to have to open each individual product to see the adjustments history.
Want to see a report that shows all the adjustments made in a list. Ideally filterable/sortable by inventory location and/or person doing the adjustment
Hi Davide2023,
You may be able to leverage the InventoryLevel resource on the Admin API to retrieve lists of inventory levels, which will allow you to store and track data, and then filter to display adjustments. This approach would require you to create your own custom app however, which might not be practical. There are apps such as Inventory Sales Report Assisty or Sumtracker Inventory App which could have this functionality.
Hope this helps!

Liam -- do you know of an app that you can install that can pull historical inventory adjustments?
ie. pull report for all inventory adjustments made in the last week or month?
Thank you
Need the same report, I'm being told by Report Pundit it can't be done because Shopify does not share API to 3rd parties, please advise be cause this is critical reporting
Any updates on this issue (problem) Liam?
Any inventory management software or portal REQUIRES inventory adjustments to be of top priority for retail stores.
@Shopify sites at this time are extremely vulnerable to on the fly adjustments, and this should be viewed as a major problem for merchants.
Again, I have to stress not only inventory valuations being skewed but adjustments require do not even have any security features whatsoever. Even simple password protection would keep from accidental adjustments or changes to values that any employee can have access to and change.
And lastly as I mentioned previously, adjustments to inventory from a positive quantity to a lesser one, requires a COGS adjustment on the other end, which I know is not being taken into account. Shopify needs to recognize that this is of great importance.
*At the very least Shopify reports should be able to create a report to see any and all adjustments made to a product since its creation. That information is available on the backend and should not left to a 3rd party to compile for your clients as it is one of the most basic functions of inventory management 101.

I am looking for the same and hope Shopify will add this as a native report.
Totally agree! Why isn't there a standard Inventory Count function that shows variances and notes all on 1 printable summary? I can't go into every item all the time to see if adjustments are made. Hoping Shopify adds this soon!
10000% agree. All the data is right there, why not allow for a printable summary of this @Shopify ???
More importantly, how is Shopify adjusting for inventory changes when an adjustment is made? Accounting wise, when an inventory adjustment is made, a balancing entry in COGS should also be matching that.
And also, if you were to have someone inadvertently changing inventory numbers (by accident or on purpose) why would there not be a report to show an owner this? This is also a major security flaw of the system especially with valuable inventory.
100% agree! Clearly, Shopify is tracking this data already if we can view it on individual product pages so why can't this be made into a report (even if it only has a 90 day window) where we can view and filter by the adjustment options and easily see what adjustments were made and for what. This would also make tracking donations, promos and damaged items so much easier. Currently I am creating orders for "customers" named Donations, Promos, Damaged and using that, but it's skewing my total orders and average order values. I reached out to Report Pundit, but was told Shopify doesn't permit access to what they need to run this report. So frustrating!!
Agreed, why is Shopify keeping our data hostage? another reply directed to Liam above has been made.
This is a shocking miss. Brick and mortar store here and we need to be able to update inventory due to shrink and ensure that loss is captured and reported. Retail 101. Every POS in the world offers this. Hard to fathom that this report isn't native in the Shopify app. Now off to spend $100+ on the 20th app we've had to install to plug all of the holes that Shopify can't seem to fill.
10000% Agree. We deal with this colossal mess everyday.
And in this case even 3rd party companies cannot even pull this data in order to provide the data on their end. This is something housed within Shopify for each individual variant and should be readily available for clients.
Update to this thread - Report Pundit - who responded below has said that it's not possible to run this report because Shopify is not providing access to the relevant data.
So now we're in a tough spot. We actually can't maintain legal compliance from a tax perspective if we can't correctly report shortages that are recorded during these inventory adjustments - and Shopify isn't providing a tool to gather this data. Ergo - Shopify is making it technically impossible to be legally compliant for any store that makes manual inventory adjustments - which is of course necessary for every brick and mortar retailer in the world.
@Liam any update from devs on this issue?
Please see this other thread ongoing since 2000 that only now Shopify has responded to. The comment basically says they will add it to their "future recommendations":
I am absolutely baffled and beyond frustrated to learn this has been an ongoing request and Shopify still has not fixed the issue. We pay too much to Shopify for them to hold this data hostage!
Hi, I created Inventory History Guardian to solve problems like yours of viewing and managing inventory adjustments over extended periods. It automatically saves daily inventory records for each product variant at every location and enables you to create adjustments that update Shopify's inventory while adding notes and maintaining a permanent record. The app provides a comprehensive report showing all adjustments across your store, exportable to CSV.
I recommend installing Inventory History Guardian and giving it a try. Let me know if you have any other questions!
