Covers all questions related to inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
Hi! I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to connect my company's website with Shopify, behind the scenes by way of API. The goal for this is to fulfill orders from Shopify through my company's website. We're designing a "Gamification" type of program where employees can earn points by completing various tasks. They will then redeem those points with merch that we put up on Shopify. Is that even a possibility? Thanks in advance for the help!
Hi @xolanir 👋 https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/orders-fulfillment/fulfillment-service-apps
Or search the app store for employee/membership store apps, and the forums most the concepts broadly mention have plenty of posts.
Beyond that yes?!? with caveats that drastically vary depending on the specifics beyond a forum post as really the question(s) is VERY large in scope because the broad concepts mixed together.
To generate orders from api calls without building your own app use an automation tool like mechanic , example

There is also now a store credit system in early access

https://shopify.dev/docs/api/admin-graphql/unstable/mutations/storeCreditAccountCredit
In general to avoid confusion it can be saner to have a separate store for employee purchases that do not share similar purchase behaviors available to regular customers; or buy button embeds, or custom headless storefront etc etc etc.
See inventory/store sync apps for multiple stores, or content gating apps like locksmith for dual purpose single storefronts.
