Marking a product as SOLD OUT even though it has inventory

Marking a product as SOLD OUT even though it has inventory

Hi,

I am starting up a store using the Berlin theme (at the moment) and for the store most of my products are of the POD variety, using different platforms for this service, such as Gelato.

Now, since I am using POD I am not able to track inventory on these products as they are default set to 10 000 in stock or a similar number and that can not be edited.
However, I still want to be able to manually mark a product as OUT OF STOCK or SOLD OUT but without having the possibility of actually putting a product to 0 stock.

I am looking for any help and leads in how to go about this.

I want to be able to create demand for a product even though I have it in stock. I know that this will limit sales on this product but I am not interested in that I am only interested in being able to provide a customer with a product that they really want.

So, I am looking for any information and/or help to figure out how to put a POD product to out of stock or sold out even though it has an inventory of 5 000 or more.
I have googled, I have YouTubed and read forums but have still not found the answer to this 😀

Thank you!

I have a question since you know it might limit sales and what the customer sees would essentially be a product out of stock.
What's stopping you from just adjusting the stock to 0? Does that not achieve what you want? I know you don't want to do it, but it feels like the quickest and easiest approach. If there's a good reason you could always go down the path of adjusting the theme code to emulate it, but I'd hate for you to do that work unless it's needed.

Hi,

Well, problem is I cannot adjust stock to 0 via Shopify when I have a print on demand set up. The products have a stock of 10 000, unlimited or similar but they are not part of he inventory tracker and the field with the stock quantity is "greyed out" and not adjustable.
Perhaps there is an app that can help with this, but if so I am not aware of what app that would be.
Talking to the print on demand partners they say that stock can not be adjusted from their end.
I am not myself good at coding so have not looked into that just yet, wanting to see if there is another option I can use instead.
And yes, am totally aware of that this would limit sales a lot, but that is not a concern at the moment, trying something out here 😀

Hi @TheRealAlucard,

I noticed that the default product generated by the Gelato POD app isn't set to track inventory. However, you can still choose "Track quantity" and adjust the quantity as needed.

Could you let me know which other POD apps you're using that are preventing you from editing inventory?

Easify Product Options: Any product options app can help you create custom options, but Easify turns those options into sales and conversions!
Easify Inventory Sync: Automate inventory syncing for Bundles, Duplicates, and Raw Materials. Say goodbye to manual tracking headaches.
Easify Product Attachments: Enrich your store with downloadable content. Easily add PDFs and other files to product or any page.

Hi @Easify-Mark ,

Thanks for your reply.

I am also working with a POD called Creator Studio where I have a similar issue. Have talked to Creator Studio and according to them at least there is nothing that can be done from their end to change this issue.

You mention that I can still choose "Track quantity" and adjust the quantity as needed. However, I have searched high and low and still do not know where I can choose this if possible, can you please advise me further on this?
