Hi everyone!
I just started using Amazon MCF so they can fulfill my orders. Before signing up, I read that MCF amazon does fulfill orders internationally. However, what I did not read is that it only applies for media content. Now I have customers in Canada that are waiting for their orders to be fulfill. I'm wonderig if anyone else has this issue and how did they solve it?
Some marketplaces fulfill internationally, some don't.
If the marketplace you're using does not, you could set up Amazon FBA in Canada, or ship Canadian orders through your regular fulfillment service.
For any current customers that ordered, I would just tell them there is a delay and give them an estimate of when they will receive their order.
We have people that set up Amazon FBA in various countries, then use those fulfillment centers to fulfill orders from all the countries covered. For example, US, Canada, and a European marketplace are common, to cover a lot of ground (European Amazon marketplaces can often ship international).
Thanks so much! I'm considering sending items to Amazon FBA. Currently I only use amazon to fulfill my orders because other fulfillment centers are very expensive. I'm worried though for my customers in Japan and Australia because we have customers there and I have a feeling Amazon fulfillment centers in Canada also don't ship internationally as well. Do you know how American businesses set up amazon fba in other countries? If so what are the steps?
In my experience (I ran a US based store for 7 years, kept inventory in 4 different countries with Amazon FBA, manufactured in 3 different countries):
- We registered our company in the US
- We registered VAT in the European countries we stored inventory (I believe this was a requirement triggered by Amazon Seller Central, we stored our inventory with Amazon FBA)
We did not use Amazon Australia or Amazon Japan, but I imagine it's a similar process.
I would reach out to Seller Central support in those marketplaces, tell them where you currently sell and that you want to expand, I'm sure they have documentation on the steps.
I would guess you just open an account in the new Seller Central, submit any documents they ask for, send inventory, set up your listings, then boom you're selling on that Amazon marketplace + can ship Shopify orders from that region using your FBA inventory (Order Automator app can handle inventory sync with Amazon and order routing / auto fulfillment for you... I actually invented this app back when I was running my Shopify store I mentioned above... to serve this purpose).
