I know some use complete WMS/IMS systems to do this, but we are not quite there yet and figured maybe someone has done this or can point me into a direction of some apps that would do this. But I am looking for a way to put onto some screens in the warehouse that shows what products are needed to be cut from the CNC machines for example and as they cut the product, he adds x number and it updates the inventory in the website. Anyone done this with API or use a WMS system that isn't 250 bucks a month?
I will even entertain some ideas on some good WMS systems as well, just trying to get the pricepoint low as we grow.
Not exactly the same but related - this automated workflow syncs up inventory for different sized paper that are cut from the main paper roll size:
I'd imagine that I should be able to build out a workflow to do what you're looking for.
What kind of interface do you have in mind for the worker to indicate once they have cut a certain size?
I like the automation but not sure if I am explaining it right, needs to basically be on a big 85 inch TV, lets say I have 45 open order to fulfill, it will pull the product out the orders that is needed and prioritize it by date would be golden and add them together, so call it 10 orders need 25 small paper cutouts. Well off of my one sheet, I can get 50, so I enter 50 and 25 goes to order, 25 goes back to the shelves. Hope that better describes it.
The worker could care less about customer name, order number etc, all he needs to know is what product to cut.
Gotcha. So putting something on the screen isn't an issue as long as you can load up a url on a browser on the screen?
And then building out the logic to figure out how many things to cut out based on the orders for a given date is also not an issue.
Then my only question is where is that 50 being entered? Is that something you're entering in the shopify admin on your end? Or something you'd like the worker to be able to enter on the computer connected to the big TV?
Well for now, having the screen piece is a huge win, but having the person able to do it from the big screen or even their phone to change the qty, even better.
Cool yeah I should be able to take a crack at that. Do you want to install mesa and I can make a collaborator request to get access to the backend? Should be able to work everything out on the free plan and then if it looks good to you you can upgrade.
