Does anyone else have an overflow warehouse, and potentially have a solution to the following problem for me?
We have two warehouse locations, one in our brick and mortar store (Warehouse A) and one around the corner (Warehouse B). We sell and fulfill orders from Warehouse A and replenish stock from Warehouse B.
We currently have a very inelegant and expensive IMS that we're looking to move away from. That IMS has one main feature that is crucial to running business day to day. Every day it checks the inventory level of every variant in Warehouse A and if the inventory is 5 or less, it checks to see if the variant can be restocked from Warehouse B. It compiles a list of every product that can be restocked and sends it to us.
We have tried to achieve a solution to this using Flows but have struggled to get a proper result. We understand that we're potentially looking at getting a custom API built but it would be great to learn of any other solutions.
Thanks in advance
Hi RowanFoster,
Here are two approaches you could take:
Custom App: You could create a custom app that integrates with our API to monitor inventory levels and automatically generate restock lists. This would involve leveraging Shopify's Inventory APIs to monitor stock levels in Warehouse A, and then check Warehouse B for restock availability.
Inventory Management Apps: There are a number of inventory management apps available in the Shopify App Store that provide multi-warehouse inventory management and automatic restock notifications. These apps include Stocky, Sumtracker, and others. You would need to explore each these to see if they meet your specific requirements.
Hope these help!

Hi Liam, thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate your time.
We have explored a number of apps and none of them really seem to accommodate for overflow warehouses especially well. We're thinking that to achieve exactly what we want, going down the route of a custom app would be smart. This is something completely new to me, as is Shopify as a whole. Would you be able to offer any guidance at all, or an idea of where to start?
Thanks again!
Hey @RowanFoster you can likely have this through some of the Stocky functions, but for a purpose built solution, check out SKUSavvy which has built in warehouse transfer functionality and bin-to-bin replenishment based on your mix/max par levels.
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for reaching out. I am still looking to resolve this, and would be very open to hearing about any potential solutions you may have.
Thanks,
Rowan
doesn't look like the link went through. what's your email and i'll send you a link to book me in.
Hi Rowan,
Have you been receiving these messages?
You can customize your IMS using ZORP
ZORP would help your bring your inventory data present in multiple warehouses together and you can manage them from the same place. Regarding the workflow for checking the inventory level at one warehouse & replenishing them from the other, do you want the stocks to be actually moved or do you just want to write over the current inventory level at the other warehouse?
