Product inventory quantity/variant setup

Product inventory quantity/variant setup

hi everyone,

i'm having some issues with the quantity/variant setup. As I'm making an item in a limited quantity and delivering on different day of the week to different locations, how do I set it up so that i need not assign an individual day quantity for each day (eg. Mon to Fri)?

For example, I have a total 100 units of item A available for this week.

Monday - Delivery Location/Area A

Tuesday - Delivery Location/Area B

Wednesday - Delivery Location/Area C

Thursday - Delivery Location/Area D

Friday - Delivery Location/Area E

Thanks in advance,

Hi Dabsi,

Thank you for your reply. Currently, my setup is similar to what you have suggested.

However, I realised there is a limitation as a location might have more orders but we are unable to fulfilled because it's fully sold. While another location has surplus quantity as there's no much orders from the area. Missed sales I would say.

Let's say,

Location A has only 5 orders (surplus of 15 units)

Location B has 25 orders (only 20 can be sold, missed sales of 5)

Location C has 15 orders (surplus of 5 units)

Location D has 45 orders (only 20 can be sold, missed sales of 25)

...

Hence, i was thinking if there is a more flexible solution to assign quantity.

Thanks once again Dabsi!

the examples are kinda confusing as in the first the days seem exclusive and thus the inventory needs to try and be also treated as exclusive.

Then in the second the inventory+days are treated as simultaneous instead of exclusive along with caps for each one. assuming that's from giving each location only 20 inventory each for the example.

Confusing problem statements complicate possible solutions.

@Dabsi  If the day of the week does not in fact affect how the real inventory is depleted and is just informational for shipping/pickup then the delivery information should be gathered separately and not baked into the single item.

Regardless, shopify does not have inventory pooling, or a native way to sync inventory among items.

Bespoke logistics needs to either find a suitable inventory app, or ERP,  or build some custom automation
