We're working to get an app approved for the App Store and were advised it might get rejected if it doesn't use the latest API version, 2022-10.
The new version won't work until you complete a Protected Customer Data Access Form (Partner admin > Apps > MyApp > App Setup > Protected customer data access), which is reviewed by Shopify staff. We've completed this form and now see this at the bottom:
"Your protected customer data access will be reviewed with your App Store Listing."
Does this mean we won't be able to use v2022-10 until our app is approved? If so, I hope it won't be rejected because we aren't using it already. That would be quite a "chicken and egg" situation. Can anyone offer insight on how this works?
In case anyone else wonders about this, we've upgraded to v2022-10 and it seems to work, even though the admin page doesn't look any different. It still says "Your protected customer data access will be reviewed with your App Store Listing." I assume someone at Shopify approved our access but it doesn't get reflected on the admin page.
There was perhaps a 20 hour delay between submitting the form and when I first noticed the new version working, so I don't think you get access automatically after completing the form. Who knows?
