Calculation of the shortage for free shipping

Is it possible, using Shopify API, to calculate how much weight / price of products is left to add to the order so that free shipping is available (free shipping rate)?

Task: When a user has added products to the cart, display how many products are left to add so that free shipping becomes available to him.
For example: "Add $ 20 worth of groceries to your order to use free shipping."
