Deprecation of fulfillment_service on ProductVariant resource in 2022-07 API version

As per the 2022-07 release note (https://shopify.dev/api/release-notes/2022-07), it says → “fulfillment_service endpoint on the ProductVariant resource in the REST Admin API is deprecated.”

As per the Product Variant resource (https://shopify.dev/api/admin-rest/2022-07/resources/product-variant), it says → “fulfillment_service field is due to be deprecated and will no longer be supported“

There is also a fulfillment Service endpoint (https://shopify.dev/api/admin-rest/2022-07/resources/fulfillmentservice) available in Shopify API.

 

It seems to be a bit of confusion around "endpoint" and "field" for "fulfillment_service", which one is the correct?

Also, the release note does not have breaking changes added for fulfillment_service in the REST Admin API changes section.

Could anyone please suggest or clarify what is going to be deprecated (i.e. endpoint or field)?

I would like some clarification on this as well. I switched our processes to use the 2022-07 API version this week and now the fulfillment API is no longer working. We were receiving deprecation messages about this, so maybe this API version finally pulled the plug on this legacy fulfillment API.

Thanks for your post. The ['Shipping and Fulfillment' section of the 2022-07 API Release notes] has been updated since your original post and now has 'fulfillmentService on ProductVariant' in the 'Field' column of an explanatory table with much more detail.
