"On hand" inventory changes have broken fulfilment integrations - No API change notice warning

It seems with the new winter update Shopify have changed how the calculate the "Available" stock count, which has severely impacted the fulfilment integrations across several of the stores I work on / manage. There was no API change notice warning for any of this, which means that some SKUs are not being shipped to customers because Shopify is communicating incorrect "Available" stock counts via the APIs.

Shopify team, what is going on here?

Hey @AlexHooper - thanks for reaching out. I know there was recently a change to how the "available" inventory state could be adjusted through the merchant admin. I'm not certain if this is what also impacted the calculation of the stock count via the API per your post, as I haven't seen this reported on my end yet. I can share that we have reverted this change on the merchant admin side of things.

If you're still seeing issues via the API when it comes to inventory states, could you reply here with an example API call where the unexpected behaviour is occurring? If you could share an example from within the last 10 days and with an X-Request-ID from the Shopify response's headers we'd be happy to look into this with you.

Hope to hear from you soon - let us know if we can clarify anything on our end
