Can shopify simply add a serial number textfield or the ability to add metadata to an inventoryItem? It would be perfect for tracking serial numbers at a specific location. Apps could easily take it from there.
This would go a long way to potentially solving the age old problem of serialized inventory which without is a deal breaker for many POS merchants, but is also important for online sales and support of serialized inventory.
