Update the fulfillment status to delivered (or other)

I'm trying to find a way to update the fulfillment status of an order to delivered once we get that information from our tracking service(s). Could anyone point towards the right api for this? for reference, we're trying to integrate another app that will send an email to customers once their order's fulfillment status is updated.
