Anyone know how to print and end of day summary in Shopify POS? (Register activity)
We were able to print a report in Quickbooks very easily, but I don’t see a way to print anything in Shopify POS. Any ideas much appreciated!
Are you using the cash tracking feature? On the bottom tab go to More -> Register -> View open session -> End tracking session. You then have to count the drawer at the end of the day and at the end if you have a receipt printer it will give you the option to print it. Other than that you will have to rely on the basic reports shopify provides, or upgrade you plan for advanced reports... Even though the POS PRO regularly costs $80 a month it doesn't include reports unless you give them an additional $105 a month for an online store that you may or may not be using as a brick and mortar retail store... The POS app provides some more advanced reporting but they took away the ability to modify date ranges probably after they realized they were providing us a $105 a month utility for free. Overall Shopify POS is costing us more over time and doesn't provide seemingly industry standard features that were included in a one time license from Quickbooks - you own that software for life and could operate it on your own hardware...
it sure does seem like nothing out there is as functional as what we've all been forced to give up. And to even get a fraction of the functionality we had with QBPOS, we are being nickel & dimed to death... for products that STILL don't function as well. It's incredibly frustrating that it's SO difficult & confusing to do things that were SO SIMPLE with QB!
I see the register summay but need a more detailed summary with non-taxable sales, taxable sales and tax (just like QB). Is there a feature for this, or must we pay more?
hahaha I'm surprised you even need to ask!! OF COURSE we must pay more! There's an "app" for every tiny thing - most of which are totally inadequate and free or WILDLY overkill and 50x the price of the functionality we actually need. It's like a coordinated nickel & diming attack on the minimal profits of small businesses.
We would also like to have these details at the end of a day. Is it really that difficult to make this available as a report? Or allow us to customize a financial report? One day down the Shopify rabbit hole and I feel like Alice.
I too am having difficulty with this transition from QuickBooks POS to Shopify, especially with the reporting & end of day processes. During webinars I even directly asked about reporting and was told it would be similar. It is not.
Does anyone in this forum have an alternate solution POS they are using?
I am using a report called “Summary”. It is under Analytics - Reports from the Shopify Admin.
Can nontaxable sales be added to this report?
We use the report Summary. It gives you the amount of tax. If you take that amount and divide it by the tax you are charging for your area, it will give you the Taxable amount. We then take the total sales and subtract the tax and taxable sales to get our non taxable amount. It is an extra step but it has been working for us. They do not have a report that breaks it out for you. I asked that question to support (when it was available). They have a new app coming out that they want you to use of course which will be an extra charge I am sure.
There is also a new report called “United States Sales Tax” that may help you back into your non taxable sales. My state only has one sales tax rate so I can’t see what this report does with different rates or if this report is useful for what you need.
A mechanical National Cash Register from the 1960s that weighed 100 pounds could print a Z report. A glorified calculator with a cash drawer from Staples will print a Z report. Why is this basic information report not included in Shopify?
Thanks for reaching out here for help. I understand that you are looking for a solution to print an end of day summary in Shopify POS, which would essentially be a total of the register activity. Thank you to everyone else who have also joined in here to share feedback and express the need for this feature.
I wanted to let you know that your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I will be sure to pass it on to our developers for consideration. I understand that this feature is important for your business and that the current options in Shopify POS may not fully meet your needs.
While I cannot provide a specific timeline or guarantee for this feature to be implemented, your feedback and input plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our platform. Feel free to keep an eye on the Shopify Changelog here for news on future updates and improvements as they happen.
In the meantime, I can see some folks have shared workarounds such as using reports, the cash tracking feature and also some third-party apps that may help you with your end of day processes.
