add "read more/less" rich text that has dynamic source in collection pages

Hi, Im trying to add metafields description for my collection pages, and I want it as rich text , so i can add links to it. But my text is too long and I want to add a "read more/less" button to it. So far I was able to find some code but I keep getting errors when I put the Jquery code in. Is there a code that wont need JQuery? Any help would be appreciated

This is doable. You can do this by adding a javascript code or input code. But this will require a developer to write a code for you
