Conversion and abandoned email sending

Hello, we have setup a custom storefront using Shopify API, and everything seems to work except 2 things:
1) Conversions are not tracked
2) Abandoned checkout/cart emails are not sent

I think the main cause is in the generating of storefront access token, it says that it needs to be online store channel or buy button for direct products, is there a way for us to set sales channel to 'Online store' even if we are using custom storefront + API since checkout is still left on shopify side, or is there some documentation where i can look into some fix for this?
