I'm having trouble changing the base currency for international markets. I'm in India, and Shopify Payments isn't available here. I need assistance in altering the base currency. Please, keep in mind that I don't want to use third-party apps as they only adjust the currency for display and not at checkout. Along with it I have stripe enabled which is partnered by Shopify

To confirm, you're looking to charge customers their local currency at checkout, correct?

 

You mentioned that your store is using Stripe as its payment gateway — as Stripe is a third-party payment provider, all customer payments will be processed on checkout using your store's default currency. This is because our Shopify Payments gateway is currently a requirement for stores wanting to allow customers to checkout in their local currency. There isn't a workaround for this I'm afraid, this is currently a limitation of our Shopify Markets feature as explained in this guide.

 

I understand the need to expand this feature for stores using other gateways too, outside of Shopify Payments. So I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to our internal development team for consideration. While we can't guarantee if or when features are implemented, you can check our Changelog here for the most recent updates to our platform.

 

In the meantime, we encourage users to explore a range of currency converter apps on our Shopify App Store here. As you're aware however, these apps will only display a different currency to customers up until checkout, so customers are still required to checkout in the store's default currency if Shopify Payments isn't present and active. This is the closest alternative available at this stage for stores not on Shopify Payments however, so if you'd like to explore this option further I recommend starting with this currency converter app, and this one to begin with to see if they'll suit your store's needs.

This is a huge problem. I have a company in England but since I am in Turkey you do not allow us to use shopify payment. For those who do not use Shopify payment, you turn off this feature. This feature is a great need.
