Can I manage international currencies without using Shopify Payments?

Hi, I'm using Shopify to develop a website for a client. The client wants to sell products at the International level. The shop will be dealing in INR, USD, and Euros, countries excluding the US, India, and European countries to be charged in USD. But the Shopify payments app isn't available to users in India. Hence, not able to manage product prices for International Market as per my requirement. Is there any alternate option to using Shopify Payments to manage currency

At this stage, Shopify Payments is a requirement for stores wanting to allow customers to checkout in multiple currencies. If your client is based in a region that isn't currently supportable by Shopify Payments, they will need to use a third-party payment provider, which means that all orders will then be processed in the store's default currency. There isn't a workaround for this I'm afraid, this is currently a limitation of our Shopify Markets feature as explained in this guide.


I understand the need for branching out both our Markets feature as well as our Shopify Payments offering, however, to include a wider range of our merchants. I'll submit your concerns here to the most appropriate internal team, so that they're aware of the points you've raised here with us in the Community Forums.


In the meantime, if your client is open for it, you can explore a range of currency converter apps on our Shopify App Store here. It's important to keep in mind that these apps will mostly just display a different currency to customers up until checkout, so customers are still required to checkout in the store's default currency if Shopify Payments isn't present and active. If you'd like to explore this option further though, I recommend starting with this currency converter app, and this one to begin with to see if they'll suit your client's needs.
