Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
Hi,
we have Shopify Plus and would like to add country specific domains for each market. At the moment everything runs on our "lotuscrafts.eu" domain with DE, EN, FR, IT, ES languages available.
We would like to change that to have for example .de / .fr / .it / .es / .co.uk /.ch / ... websites with the needed languages. (for example: .fr only with FR, EN / .de only with DE,EN and so on). I know how to set this up already.
But there is one issue we are facing: currencies
Is it possible that if we for example set up the .ch domain for Switzerland to we sell our products in CHF?
Usually our store currency is EUR, but we would like to have CHF for the lotuscrafts.ch domain only and also have different prices than in the other markets.
The information on the help pages is not very clear to me. On most it says, that this is only possible with Shopify Payments - on other it says, that with Shopify Plus this should be possible, even without Shopify Payments.
Please let me know how we can realize our plans and what information is true.
Kind regards
Markus

Well, yes we are using Shopify Payment.
Seems like you have to make decision on this, if you wish to give user native mutlicurrency experience, then Shopify Payment is the best option. As they integrate natively to all your products. If you are using third-party payment gateway, you have to use Apps to show different currencies on different domains. That will be more on the app side, and those app only 'display' price in different currencies instead of actually charging customers with different currencies (they will still be charge in EUR). So your customer may find the amount they got charged differ from what you display on your website.
Hi @markuspfi,
I'm CiCi from Boost Commerce, which is the creator of Product Filter & Search - a solution that grows more sales for online stores by optimizing the product discovery experience. Back to your question, I suggest using a third-party -currency app that will automatically convert the prices based on the shoppers’ location contributing to an easy and pleasant shopping journey. Please take a look at the following apps that are integrated with Boost Product Filter & Search:
Yes. We are on Shopify Plus as well.
I assume you have linked all those domains to Shopify.
Go to Online Store > Domains.
On each domains' right side, you see tabs 'Manage'. Click 'Manage'.
Make sure you selected do not redirect to main domain. Then you see Currencies options and Language option.
Additionally, on Online Store > Preference , on the bottom of the page, you can check automatically redirect user to their country specific domains.
Hi, thanks for your answer - however I have some questions.
Do you use 'Shopify Payments' ? Because we do not (yet) - as we have better rates with Stripe at the moment than we'd have with 'Shopify Payments'.
We have the domains connected, but when I want to select the currency, it only shows us EUR markets - please see the screenshot.
Also in the 'Geolocation' app by Shopify, we cannot select anything else than EUR.
Is it somehow possible to have multiple currencies without 'Shopify Payments'?
Kind regards
Markus

Hello,
I would like to use Adyen gateway payment in my store and using multiple currencies depends on visitor's country.
You said I need to use app to do that. Can you be more specific ? Should I develop my own app or should I use a specific one ?
Is there any way to handle customer's pay and charge in a specific currency ?
For example a US visitor would pay (and be charged) in USD.
Thank you for your help
