Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
Hi, may I know will the app support translation of "Vendors" in the future? It is quite annoying when the vendor name is the only thing showing in another language.
Thank you.
Hi there, @TaylorWong. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community about translating the 'Vendor' name using the 'Translate and Adapt' app.
At this time, we don't have any information to share regarding timelines on when such functionality will become available. With that being said, our Developers are always looking to add value to our products, new and existing, so I'm happy to pass your feature request from this post to the Team internally for their consideration.
To set some expectations, I can't promise what the outcome of passing this feedback along will be, but you can rest assured that it's been passed forward to the folks that need to see it!

Please, we need this feature too.
Hi @risong_petasty and @TaylorWong , it is not currently on the roadmap to translate Vendor, as these are predominantly brand / company names. Can you share your use case, why would you want Product Vendor to be translatable? Thanks

I believe it’s because we NEED it. Even for brands like Nike and Adidas have their names in other languages like Chinese for different communities. Imagine how can an English speaking customer read the Chinese brand name of the product? I’m quite shocked this could even be a question for a global shopping platform like you…
Why wouldn't we??? This is the product page. The second row is the brand name. How would my non-English speaking customers know the brand of the product?
@TaylorWong @risong_petasty Thanks for sharing your use cases

@TaylorWong @risong_petasty In the mean time, this workaround will enable you to have translatable vendor names. Follow the same approach but do it for product vendor, not product type. It works by duplicating the vendor name as a translatable metafield, You can also link this metafield as the dynamic source in your default product template, so that it shows the value in the appropriate script on the product page.

Thank you for providing this workaround. It only works on the product page, but not on the collections page.
No problem. That would need a bit of custom coding. This is what you need I believe. And here is a tutorial for doing it.

That seems to be too much work for us for the time being. Do you have an estimate (doesn't need to be accurate) on when this will be addressed in the right way?
We have a similar problem. We use the "vendor" field to communicate the country of origin for our products (we sell coffee). A Meta-field would also serve this use case, but the vendor field is displayable in vanilla themes without messing with the code.
Translating vendors or an easy way to display meta fields in collection pages (ideally both) would be extremely helpful.
