Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
How do I get Shopify Markets? Do I seriously need to enroll in the Advanced Shopify Plan? Do I really have to pay an extra $270 a month for my little store, just to be able to set different prices for different countries? I hope this is not the case and shame on Shopify if it is. Markets/International pricing should be part of the $79/mo Shopify plan. If you want people to move off their basic plan for $29/mo at least make it a reasonable step up, not a 1030% increase in monthly costs.
I currently use some unstable multi country pricing app that I hate. I thought markets was supposed to be the solution to this.
Hey @Dilles,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! Shopify Markets is now available to all merchants regardless on their plan, allowing customers to browse, shop, and check out in their local currency. The features available to you within Shopify Markets, will depend on whether or not Shopify Payments is being used.
In the case you are using Shopify Payments as a payment gateway, you will have access too the following features:
If you're utilizing an alternative payment provider (i.e not Shopify Payments) you will continue to have access to Shopify Markets, but will be limited to the following features:
If not using Shopify Payments, you can continue with using Multiple Currencies which will allow customers to browse and shop in their preferred currency but will require them to check out in the shops default currency.

Here is my problem. I'm located in Canada. I drop ship to the US and physically ship products from the US to myself in Canada then ship products as required within Canada. I pay a lot in importing when shipping products up to myself in Canada. I need to be able to charge US customers one price and Canadian customers another price. This price is not just the exchange rate as I incur import costs far and above that. I need to be able to manually set a price for Canadians and another price for Americans.
How do I go about doing that? I thought markets was the solutions to this problem, but I may be mistaken. I use a third party app at the moment that I do not like at all. Its very rudimentary and unstable. I'm hoping Shopify has a better solution. It looks like they do, but I cannot access it.
Thanks in advance.
Hey @Dilles,
I appreciate you providing additional context here! As you are looking to create two separate pricing lists for customers (i.e one for Canadian and one for United States), I would recommend either upgrading your current plan and/or considering opening another shop.
Currently, Shopify Markets allows customers to view prices in your store, pay for their orders at checkout, and receive refunds in their local currency. By default however, prices are converted automatically using the current market exchange rate.
To control pricing for specific countries, this will depend on the current plan. If your store is on our Advanced Plan ($299/monthly), you're able to achieve this through International Pricing. If however, you're not ready to upgrade, you can look to opening another store as a workaround.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

What if instead of creating 2 stores and workarounds, Shopify just charged a reasonable monthly amount for this rather benign and straightforward service? Please let them know on my behalf. Thank you
