Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
Hello everyone,
I'm setting up Market(s) for my eshop and I do have a question about best practice/best approach. I'm based in Czech Republic and I'm creating an eshop with Digital distribution (so there are no shipping fees, etc.). My primary market will (very likely) be USA as I do have most traffic coming from there.
The question is:
Does my primary market have to be the same as the country I come from? Or is it a best practice?
I would like to compete in EU in future as well, but my focus is on US right now.
I'm aware of having a bank account in Czech korunas (yep, that's our currency) and getting paid in US$ as I have multicurrency account.
Note: I'm paying VAT in my country and I'm also aware of the VAT in other countries.
Thank you very much!

Hello @Jirka_S ,
For your question, your primary market doesn't have to be the same country with you.
- As long as you are able to handle the logistics and payment processing for international sales, you can target any market you choose. In your case, if your primary market is the USA, you may want to consider setting up your store to display prices in US dollars and using payment processing options that are popular in the US, such as PayPal and credit cards.
- It's also important to keep in mind that different countries have different laws and regulations when it comes to online sales, so you may want to research and comply with any relevant laws in the countries you are targeting.
- You may want to consider offering localized versions of your website and customer support in the future if you expand into other markets, this can be done by using third-party app that support translation, geolocation and currency converter to have the best performance.

Thank you for your reply, it helped a lot!
If your main source of traffic is coming from the USA, it makes sense to focus on the US market as your primary market. Targeting the market where you have the most demand can lead to better sales and growth opportunities. Or you can build a crowd links with a team or by yourself.
