Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
Hi everyone! We were finally ready to make the switch from Danish as our default to English (since we are picking up speed internationally). I exported the translations so I have them ready. My question is now, is there any easy way make a simple change to the csv export, so that I can import it and have the translations and default switched so it imports correctly?
In our case the csv export shows the Danish word as the default and the English word as the translation. Now we want to import it where the default/translation is reversed, without having to apply every piece of text from scratch.
Thanks!

Hey @Freejogger . There is not I'm afraid and changing the default language is something we recommend against, more here:
The store default language is the language you originate content in, in your admin. Changing the default language doesn't swap language content round, it changes the locale code associated with your existing content in admin. You'd have to manually rewrite all your products, collections, pages, theme sections; there is no bulk upload for default language content.
1. If you just want to change the language your buyers land on by default on your primary domain, do it in Settings > Markets > (Primary market) > Languages and domains
2. If you really want to change your default language, it'll mean rewriting as per above. The closest I've seen to a shortcut is this app Translify which can machine translate default content. But you'd then need to manually correct it.
Hope that helps even if it might not be what you want to hear..

@richbrown_staff Alright - too bad. We knew it was a possibility when we started out and chose to do it in Danish first, instead of English right off the bat. I guess I have an exciting night ahead of me 🙂
