eShop localisation (Order drafts and notification defaults)

eShop localisation (Order drafts and notification defaults)

Hi, I have faced an issue with my shop localisation. As default I have kept English however translated most of the content using Translate&Adapt to local Lithuanian language. The shop it self works just fine (checkout and notifications are received by cutomers in Lithuanina) but I have started using Order drafts and there is no way of sending the link to the customers in other than default language (as far as understand from the discussions above) and this causes the second issue - they are starting to receive notifications in English as well.

So my questions are:
- how can I make my Draft order links in local (Lithuanian language) if I do not know customer details and want them to fill them in after receiving the link
- how can I change the default notification settings for the customers I have already forced to receive notifications in English
- is there any other way (than email) of exporting translations because I have not received the translations for 48 hours already

Hi @Kristina_LT , please check if this works:

  • Create the customer before you create the draft order. Set their language to Lithuanian
  • Then create the draft order

I believe this will resolve the issue. I believe the title of the email may still show in English (though can be edited) but I think the body will be sent in Lithuanian. Worth running a test. Note that what's happening is that the language the email is sent in matches the language stored against the customer. So for your specific questions:

- how can I make my Draft order links in local (Lithuanian language) if I do not know customer details and want them to fill them in after receiving the link

I'll come back to you on this. I think if you just go to share the draft order checkout link it only shows in the default language, but I'll find out of there's a workaround.

- how can I change the default notification settings for the customers I have already forced to receive notifications in English

Change them on the customer's profile

CSV is the way to export, but I'll check why you haven't received the CSV. Try again and let me know if it's still not come

1. I cannot put in my customer details before generating the Draft order link because I use my customer base in facebook where people purchase using comments (there is no email I could fill in) I share the link with messanger.  So looking forward to find out the solution 🙂

2. Found the way to change the language in the customer profile - thanks!
3. No I have not received CSV export nor I have received invoices (when exporting multiple)

1. Out of interest why do you do this as a draft order, as opposed to just sharing your store?

2. Great

3. Can I confirm it's Settings > Languages > Export you've not received? You mentioned invoices - could you explain what invoices means here?

Thanks

The business model we try to addopt to e-commerce is:
- we make live feed in the suppliers wearhouses and collect orders via FB comments
- after the products arrive we used to contact customers via FB messenger asking them to make SEPA payment and send us delivery address (quite a lot of hassle to collect and check all the data afterwards). So we decided that we prepare carts (Draft orders) for each customer (but we still have only FB id) and when we send the link to the Draft order most of the customers manage to fill in everything.
- as most of the information about the product is shown and told during live feed we don't spend time for good quality photos, descriptions etc. for each product and therefore we don't want these products to be shown in our eshop publicaly.

As of Invoices if I select to receive multiple invoices received from shopify (eg I needed 12 invoices you have sent us for year 2023) I am promised to receive them to my email. However I did not receive any.

@richbrown_staff Hi, I expected you come back with an answer how can we change default language of Draft orders. Eeven though your proposed workaround works for language settings but now we see a sharp decline in email subscriptions (I think its because if we add customer to a draft order he is not required to fill in anything else than his or hers shipping address)

Hey Kristina, don't know if it may help, but I had the same problem (we have 80% of our orders from draft orders) and I found a workaround that's working for us.

In your draft order page click share and then copy link.

When you paste link add at the end of it "?locale=it" and change the last 2 letters with the code of the locale you want to use, in my case Italian.

Let me know if it works and it helped or you found some other way.
