How can I translate the checkout logo for different domains?

How can I translate the checkout logo for different domains?

Hi @Shopify ,

We are using Shopify markets for international sales. We have 3 domains for french, dutch and germany:

examplecompany.nl

examplecompany.de

examplecompany.fr

We need every site to have a different logo. For the normal logo in the header we can translate it trough a translate app. But we cannot translate the logo for the checkout. We also need different logo's there but the editing in the checkout is limited. Can you please make sure we can translate this logo in the near future?

Regards,

Frank

Hey @Fwegberts , to understand correctly: you've successfully changes your logo for your different markets, but that logo change is not carried through to checkout, is that right? If so this will get noted and added to the roadmap. If you can send screenshots either here or by DM that would be great. Would a solution be to have, by default, a 'country agnostic' logo, that you then modify for every market including the primary market? So that the country agnostic logo shows in the checkout, but the localised logo shows on the storefront.

Hi @richbrown_staff , we use totally different domains per country so it looks really local. Yes we can translate the logo on all pages except for the checkout page. We use T-lab translations 3rd party app. Hope you can add this functionality soon!

Ok noted, thanks @Fwegberts . This forum is for Translate & Adapt but good to know T-Lab also have functionality to localise images.

Hi Rich, I've been trying to localise the images as well. But still am still unsuccessful.

A search and replace (image url) would do the trick. However I reached out to the support staff. And they came with this answer. I hope this can help you guys. Cause to me it doesn't. If you have any solution I'm glad to hear it. Using the Adapt and Trans plugin as well. Shopify should make it easier.

"Sean here from Shopify Support! I understand that you're looking to use text as a logo in the Dawn theme and have it translated as well.

Like what Robbie has mentioned, having translatable text is not possible across Shopify themes. The only workaround would be to use a subdomain and to use the request.host Liquid filter to display unique content across different domains. This is out of Shopify's scope of support and is definitely something you'll want to approach our Shopify Experts for."

Hi @BigBadWolf , could you give some more context on what you're aiming to do? Screenshots are helpful too. Short answer: images are localisable for the theme, but not for product galleries. If it's /admin/settings/branding and the logo you want to localise I'd have to double check, I think currently not possible.

Sure! I'm trying to show a different logo in every domain. So that a
visitor of a USA website sees a different logo then from Brazil or Germany.

This is needed cause of first domain logo is not universal.

We can use text as a logo and translate it or if needed we can use SVG or
PNG images.

That can be done with Translate & Adapt. Set your logo as an image, e.g.:

Then go to Localize:

Then 'translate' your logo by selecting the markets you want it to be different:

And just go through and change. You need to have uploaded the alternative logos first, Translate & Adapt can't upload files yet. Remember you're doing it by language, so if you want English AND German to use a specific logo in Germany, you'll have to change it on both Market = Germany, Language = English and Market = Germany, Language = German.

My theme doesn't offer me to edit image in the header via this approach.

Hi, I just took a look - in your theme it's in Theme Settings. Go to Apps > Translate & Adapt > Theme Settings > Logo and you'll see it. However note that you don't currently have other languages (Settings > Languages).

On images containing numbers - I see your use case and yes you could do that with an image. But broadly having text you might want to select, like numbers or email addresses, is best as text rather than embedded in an image. But these things are totally your choice.

Thank you Rich, it seems to address front end issue, but the actual checkout is where I was intending to have it. Any ides for that area? Thanks.

Hey @SandyUK , that would be custom functionality beyond what we can support natively. The checkout uses the logo from Settings > Brand. Custom delivery service names can be translated via the CSV.

Here's another idea - imagine you have a logo with local number and trust marks and payment methods. So for French it could be in French with French phone number and primary payments, for Dutch it could be different etc.

Hi @SandyUK , yes that's possible. Though note you wouldn't want numbers contained in an image.

Why would be that? Ideally I want numbers, local couriers etc shown. Imagine most basic example. Website that ships in English to USA/Canada/AU/UK. One site, multiple currencies etc; easy peasy. Just if could configure this image to be custom based on customer. For Canada it could be CanadeFed something, for the UK - RoyalMail. Builds trust that way. Also phone number, local +44 for UK and +1 for USA etc.

@richbrown_staff This is something we are trying to implement too.

It seems the custom checkout image it isn't possible to localize.

We actually place native language and phone numbers here as well as having a different logo.

Any movement on getting this implemented? It seems you can change images anywhere else on the theme which is great.
