Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
My business right now is completely based in my home and the future I would like to be available to people in Europe. How difficult will it be to do so, since my business is run at my house right now?
you may need to register ioss to pay the vat when you target EU market.
More hurdles than you could possibly imagine at present.
I'm selling from Japan, on Shopify, mostly to Europe, since 2008.
-Different store / Shopify account: we used a different store to sell in French. Another one to sell in English.
I still recommend to do this if you want to be serious with international sales. Translations app will not make your life easier than having 2 separate Shopify accounts if you want to sell in a different language.
-Shopify Geolocation App: perfect to add multi-currency to your store(s).
-Shipping: you can use your Postal services or you can open an account with FedEx / DHL / UPS.
We made an app to manage all our international shipments and it's used now by hundreds of Shopify sellers in 15 different countries.
-IOSS number: you need one if you want to sell your products VAT included. But you are still free to not do so. Your customer may have to pay for VAT + carriers fee at delivery if you don't have an IOSS number.
Hey @LashJubilation,
We’ve created an in-depth guide to cross-border ecommerce with Shopify if you’re interested. Maybe the info can give you a good starting point, but feel free to ask if you need any more help.
All the best,
- Max from Sufio
I know, this is ridiculously late.
There is a simple solution for IOSS with great support and full automation: https://apps.shopify.com/eas-eu-compliance
no-code, simple pricing without starting or monthly fees and hands off monthly operations. If you don't believe me, just check the reviews!
I just started my adventure with Global24 and it seems we could help you with that. If easier, shoot me an email aggie.grabowska@global24.com. We specialise in cross-border from labelling, shipping, returns (also in bulk), warehousing, customs, taxes and more. We also provide your customers with local return adresses and carriers so your international strategy is complete, especially important if you are selling on Amazon.
Hope it helps,
Aggie
