Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
Hi,
I have a webshop with EUR currency. Then I have to different markets with SEK and DKK prices. The exchange rates doesn't match my wish on prices so I have fixed prices on these two markets. Now I wan't to make a discount on some of the products, but it won't show a compared price. Can anyone help me fix this problem?
Thanks in advance 🙂
Hi. Did you solve this? I chatted with Shopify and they suggested using a Discount app. I haven't tried that yet.
Hello,
I just found an easy workaround if you use Shopify Markets, after Shopify support proved no help (redirecting me to very expensive apps). Go to Settings --> Markets --> Select the Market with the currency for which you want to set a fixed price discount --> Click on "Products and pricing" --> Click on "Manage exchange rate" and select Manual. Set an exchange rate you are confortable with (for example the average of the past 3 months, of the past year) and voila. Now you can set a fixed price discount with a simple calculation.
Example: I set 1 GBP = 0.88 euros. To get a fixed price discount of £10, I entered 11.36 euros in the discount code. Works like a charm.
Note that, if like us, you sell products at fixed prices (rather than follow the currency conversion fluctuations), then changing that exchange rate to manual will have no impact whatsoever on your store prices. If you don't, then your store prices will be fixed by that conversion rate, which is actually nice also.
Hi everyone, not sure if you’ve found a solution yet, but we did!
I'm working for a Shopify Plus store preparing for a major international expansion. We needed to manage multiple discounts and multiple currencies.
We found a discount app—Pixoo Multi‑Currency Discounts —that’s been a game-changer 🚀.
No more workarounds for exchange rates, it's easy to use and configure, and it saved us $$$ in development. Highly recommend it!
