Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
Hi. I recently upgraded to the Shopify Advanced price plan in order to have the international taxes and duties calculated at checkout. I have a DDP agreement with DHL. I am based in Norway.
I would like all transactions abroad to pass through DDP.
I did a few test runs, and the system calculates correctly when sending orders to EU, USA etc.
But for the UK, the system is not calculating taxes or duties for orders below (I assume) 135 GBP. I understand there is some "low value" threshold, but I do not want to register in the UK to avoid more paperwork. I want to send all orders with DDP and thus pick up the taxes for all UK orders upfront, even those under 135 GBP.
Any suggestions ?
Hi Yann2021!
UK VAT below 135£ and EU IOSS below 150€ make VAT collection easier, customs process simpler and logistics can take advantage of the seriously cheaper postal solutions. I would not overlook the simplified solutions, they are facilitating very good customer service.
UK VAT registration is simple, you can register yourself. Reporting is monthly and we at EAS Project can assist you with both calculation and reporting. For IOSS we could not make it more simple, we handle the whole thing.
We handle it via our Shopify application you can find here: https://apps.shopify.com/eas-eu-compliance
