Mobile app based medical prescription drugs subscription service international presence

Looking to explore if I can use Shopify to get the next version of my app built rather than doing all ground up.

App is iOS/Android

      User will get the prescription generated in the app via the app logic ( questions etc. )

     Via the prescription (issued in backend by doctor) the order ( pills, address, customer ID) will be sent to the pharmacy partner

     Pharmacy partner will deliver the drug 

Present on many countries (languages and medical SKU varying)

Needs different payment methods depending on country 

Needs whatsapp customer support/chat mechanism

Can I use Shopify to do the heavy lifting  ? What all integrations do I need to do with SHopify for this and any recommendations ?

Shopify can be made a part of a HIPAA-compliant solution so long as you are storing your HIPAA & PHI ( also know as ePHI) data outside of Shopify and using a HIPAA-compliant webhost.

We do this all the time. There are some key concepts that need to be followed .. all dictated by your workflows for purchase.

If you are storing prescription products + customer information in Shopify then you are in violation of the basic tenants of HIPAA & the Office of Civil Rights requirements for handling such data.

This means in your example that all purchase data in Shopify needs to be deidentified so customer data doesn't associate with protected health information like what prescription was just ordered.
