Global expansion, localizing content, and selling in multiple currencies and languages
After many (many!) years, Shopify have finally added regions to the United Kingdom, allowing Shopifiers to set up shipping to individual areas, such as Northern Ireland.
However, I've found a problem that I cannot solve.....
I have set up a shipping zone comprising Northern Ireland only;
However, when users attempt to set their shipping address, only 'United Kingdom' appears as a selectable option - I would have thought this should now read 'Northern Ireland'?
Am I incorrect in my expectation that the region would be listed, rather than the parent country?
Hi @meep,
Nick here from Shopify. Good to see the Northern Ireland region is up now in the settings for sure!
Great question, and tested this on my test store to take a closer look into this for you. I wanted to see if this applied for Wales, Scotland and England also and if it appeared as a selectable option:
I set up the shipping zone to include all of the different countries to see if it gave the option in the shipping settings publicly in the store then. You can see what I selected in the shipping zone here:
And this is what it showed me in the public shipping settings then:
So the same principle applies for all the countries based in the United Kingdom with this setting. So in this case, it would be the parent country represented with these settings. I hope this helps and answers your question, don't hesitate to ask if you have any others.
Thanks, Nick
