Redirecting based on geolocation

Hello, I have a question regarding setting up automatic domain redirects. We have 2 stores created, one with a .AU domain and the other has a .UK domain

I understand how to redirect them I believe, my question is, will the fact it is two seperate stores rather than one store with 2 domains be an issue? Or will it function the same? Thank you!

the functionality overall remains the same, but it mostly depends upon your requirement, it would be a headache for you to fulfill the order on 2 different store and maintain them as well but if it's alright by you than there is no issue.
If you wanna keep 1 store and use that as for different countries you can use shopify markets to do so
