Shipping International - Is there a simpler way?

Hi guys

I'm a UK based seller. I have started getting requests from EU & Middle East for my products. I currently only sell to UK but feel that due to the number of people asking, I should do some more digging. 

I appreciate there is lots of research and time which I would need to spend on this, but wondered if there is a simpler solution or app that I can use which will help me with this? I notice Shopify is bringing our Markets Pro which looks like the kind of thing I need, but is there something else which is available on the market? I don't really mind if the fees are high as this is business i'm currently turning down. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi @CuriousBelting, I guess there are multiple aspects to this:

- localised payment methods (e.g. WeChat in China, UPI in India etc.)

- fulfilment

- customer service

- rules & regulations depending on what you're selling 

I guess the most pressing matter is probably shipping/fulfilment due to UK being now outside the EU and so on?

The Markets Pro does look very interesting and it's the first time I've seen it but looks very promising.

Oh and we're also a UK-based ecommerce so I can feel your pain 🙂

Not sure if you got sorted with this but I'm currently having talks with Zonos and GlobalE (who are actually powering Shopify Markets Pro). 

Shopify Markets Pro looks great but I can't find any information on when it will be available in the UK or out of 'early access'.

All these solutions are classed as MOR (merchant of record) so they are all very similar but all their pricing is structured differently.

VAT in the Digital Age is an official EU project which is drafting the developments of indirect taxation. One of the 2025 issues, which the countries are committed to, is that IOSS will become obligatory for anyone shipping to EU. Add to that the required changes in shipping labels (identification of the actual seller), Merchant of Record solutions will be obsolete.
