Use different domains VS Use Markets Option

Use different domains VS Use Markets Option

Hi,

We are planning to sell internationally and we have different domains (with different extensions for different countries ex .fr .es etc).

One option for us is to have different shopify stores for each and I am wondering if it is possible to redirect customers between different shopify stores automatically based on their location.

The other option is to use the Shopify Markets option and use these different domains there, but then we would have to translate all the content, apps, checkout with an app which seems more hassle to me.

I am also not sure how would Facebook catalogs and Google feed work when having all the languages in one store. I know it is possible to have supplementary feed on Facebook, but I am not sure if it is possible to run Advantage+ catalog ads with multi language stores.  Any experience with that would be appreciated.

What do you guys think is the better option?

Hey! First of all, it’s a great thought to expand internationally! Your store will definitely benefit from reaching more customers globally. Regarding your question, I will try to answer both parts of your question.

So, you asked if there’s a way to redirect customers to their local language store if you decide to go with multiple Shopify stores. Well, there is.

From what I know, there’s a Shopify app called Unicorn Location Redirect, and with its help, you can easily get a particular customer to the right store (depending on their location), providing them with a localized Shopping experience.

Now coming to the second part, if you should go with Markets, well, yes, I will suggest you go with Shopify Markets. While you will have to translate the content and all, it will still be more convenient and hassle-free compared to creating separate stores for each domain.
It will help you streamline your operations and also provide convenience when it comes to Shipping, etc.

Lastly, you should not worry about Facebook and Google ads in multiple languages. There are Shopify apps like AdNabu (which helps with product feed management) that support multilanguage and multicurrency feeds for Shopify stores. Using those multilingual and multicurrency feeds, you can easily create ads for international customers and provide them with a seamless shopping experience in their own language.

As a merchant, you can advertise effectively across all channels. Moreover, AdNabu also automatically syncs your Shopify market settings on a daily basis. So, overall, it’s a win-win situation for you!

Hope this answers all your questions and helps!
