My store's base currency is USD, shop is Canada based.

We want to focus on some small markets. We've created Markets for many, and are using local currencies through ShopPay. For Germany, we use EUR, increasing a % over USD.

I want to do the same for Poland, switching to Zloty. What other fees would I incur doing this?

The only one I can image is that the PLN to USD exchange that Shopify does will be worse than the EUR to USD exchange, leaving me with potentially slightly less PLN.

Does anyone know?

Hi Ljknadlk, I totally understand your question! You’re wondering if switching to Polish Zloty (PLN) for Poland might bring extra costs, especially with Shopify's exchange rates when converting back to USD.

Here’s a simple breakdown of what you should consider:

  1. Currency Exchange Rates: When Shopify converts PLN back to USD, the exchange rate might not be as good as EUR to USD, meaning you could end up with a little less money. You can adjust for this by slightly increasing your PLN prices (just like you do for EUR).

  2. Shopify Fees: If you're using Shopify Payments, the fees are generally low, but there's usually a 1.5% fee for currency conversion. So, selling in PLN would cost you a little in conversion fees, but it's manageable.

  3. Bank or Gateway Fees: Depending on your payment provider, your bank might charge a bit for converting PLN to USD. It’s worth checking with your payment provider to understand these fees.

In short: The main thing you need to watch out for is Shopify’s currency conversion rates and fees.
