Using Managed Markets to sell and fulfill internationally
I sell these box frames with a fake dummy metal bullet inside based off a real bullet and explain their history, these bullets cannot be used in any harmful way or be loaded into a gun, they are just metal models, they look real but I am not sure if they infringe this rule. Is someone able to help me clarify if it would be okay or not, it could lose me my livelihood.
This is from the prohibited shopify items list. Does my dummy metal bullet model fall into this?
"Explosives, weapons, and related items
Explosives, weapons, and related items are restricted on Shopify Markets Pro.
Items in this category include but aren't limited to the following:
guns and gun parts
knives exceeding 3 inches in length
items that fall in the tactical category
weapon accessories and paraphernalia (ammunition, cases, sheaths, cleaning kits, locks, scopes, attachments, and modifications)"
Hi, @Omaiirr. I'm happy to share some information to help with this.
We aren't able to say for certain whether something can or can't be sold on Shopify since this is very nuianced and depends on a number factors, including your local laws. That being said, I can completely understand why you want to be sure about this before you start using Shopify. In this case, it's best to seek independent legal advice. They can help you review the Shopify Terms of Service and the Shopify Acceptable Use Policy to ensure you're complying with these policies and all applicable laws in your, and your customer's, jurisdiction.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hello, @Erin thank you for the reply, I wanted to ask if there is any way I could get in contact with anyone higher up to ask them specifically about my art, Getting legal advice I would not know where to begin or how much to spend as I dont have much, I just need some sort of green light to go ahead and launch my products, they are technically art pieces, I would love to email someone higher up and ask them directly and let them clarify if I could use it, My laws are from the UK and nothing prohibits selling metal bullets so it shouldnt be an issue here.
If there is anything I could do to get in contact with someone at a higher level or a support system that would be great, I dont understand why shopify dont just have a normal support email address for certain queries.
Thank you again for replying.
Hi, @Omaiirr.
We don't have a direct email address, but you can create a support ticket at any time through the Help Center here for any questions you have. That being said, we don't have a team that would be able to provide advice on what you can or can't sell as this would be considered legal advice. What you can or can't sell using Shopify depends on a number of nuianced and context-specific factors so for more help interpreting the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy it's best for you to seek independent legal counsel. They would be able to review these policies with you, as well as the applicable laws in your jurisdiction and your customer's jurisdiction(s), to help you determine what to do going forward.
Happy to help more if you have any other questions about using Shopify!
