Daily product 404's on url's for markets we inactivated

We recently deleted Mexico and Canada as a MARKET. I believe this created urls' for all products with a prefix so it can translate.

Since we did that, we are getting 100's of 404's a day on products prefixed with /en-mx/, /en-ca/, /es-ca/, /es-mx/.

Did I miss a step when I took them off?

What would cause this?  A bot maybe?

Will they ever stop???

I have been exporting the 404's, correcting them and loading them to the redirects every few days...but...what a hassle.

Thanks

When you  say "... let Google know by adding Noindex codes or cancel indexing, so that they will disappear gradually". How do I 'let' Google know? Do I have to cancel indexing one product at a time?
