Using Managed Markets to sell and fulfill internationally
I have issue with our checkout using markets pro. Following scenario:
- international user (e.g. Netherlands) comes to our site and gets greeted with the Shopify Geolocation pop-up prompting him to switch over to his local currency euros. => entire website switches over to euros just as expected.
Issue:
- whenever the user reaches checkout the currency jumps back to USD
after talking various times with shopify support & testing myself I went through following steps without success:
Completed troubleshooting without success:
- our theme (Prestige) is not compatible with Markets pro (wrong because the same problem comes up with an untouched Dawn theme)
- setting up markets pro correctly (have done so and confirmed by Shopify support)
- talking to Shopify Plus support (did that without any success but they confirmed that this was an issue)
Here is a quick loom video explaining this issue: https://www.loom.com/share/Loom-Testing-Markets-Pro-Functionality-4ae26e4ab20e4958ace7e649e7d6f605
This is my last resort since Shopify Support will not get back to me.
I appreciate any hints & tips on how to fix this.
Andreas
Hello @AndreasWaeldele ,
It's really strange.
btw in my opinion it is related to settings or theme not with Shopify default.
Because if it's with Shopify default then others stores will have the same issue and as I checked other stores including those where the theme doesn't support market and I configured it there manually. All are working fine.
Hi there, I am on the team that works on Shopify Markets Pro. Thanks for posting this and for the very helpful video. I will take this to our team and come back to you as soon as possible.

HI @AndreasWaeldele - we have investigated this issue, and it seems to be an app on your store causing this.
The app "WishList Plus" is reverting the currency to USD at checkout. Can you please try and remove/deactivate this app and test if the problem still persists? Let me know once you have done this and if you see the issue fixed.

Hi @coleatkinson thanks a lot for checking this out ! Weirdly enough it is working now. Though I am realising, that whenever I use a VPN that the wishlist app disappears. Is that something you guys changed? I have not turned off the wishlist app yet.
This is what we found: there is a pop up on your website that presents a special offer to buyers. When you physically dismiss that pop up, everything works as expected and the cart stays in the local currency. If you don't dismiss that pop up and just click on "Checkout," the wish list app is doing something weird where it resets the cart currency to USD. I put a short video together for you to see the problem: https://screenshot.click/20-34-fblp9-1fnpr.mp4

Hi @coleatkinson thanks a lot for the video! The popup you are seeing is not the wishlist app but a Klaviyo Signup Popup.
Most of online stores using Shopify have Klaviyo installed. That is not something I can deactivate.
Totally understood - sorry I wasn't clear. It's not the Klaviyo pop up that is causing the issue, that's just how to reproduce the issue itself.
The issue is definitely being caused by the wishlist app. If you deactivate this temporarily does the issue still persist?
