Automated Collection condition based on product in collection

Hi all,

I would like to create a sort of hierarchy of collections, this would be useful for my website in order to better organise the megamenu.

The idea is to create the child collections as manual, while the parent collection as automated with as condition "Product collection is equal to ...".

This condition is not present in the list of conditions to be used by an automated collection.

I know that as a possibility I could make use of the tags however this appears to be not convenient for me (ex. "Automated child collections based on tag & Automated parent collection based on sum of all child tags" or "Manual child collections and tag all products under them with a parent collection tag").

I would appreciate if anyone could guide me on a solution I might being missing, for instance by using metafields... or something else.
